FUTURES Hectic trading
United States dollar contracts rose up to 450 points (2200 to investors) in hectic trading on the Futures Exchange yesterday. Mr Alan Overton, of Mair and Company, Ltd, said that rise in prices reflected the fall in the value of the New Zealand dollar. Investors quit short positions as the rise began about 2 p.m. One hundred and eighty-six contracts were traded. Wool trading was quiet, with only 11 trades, as the investors settled into the third day of automated trading in the contract.
The commercial bill (prime commercial paper) futures contract was down about 30 points for August, ; reflecting a rise in the an- i ticipated interest rate to < 22.9 per cent.
