‘Jockey School’ is tough
The colourful, competitive and sometimes dangerous world of horse racing provides the background to “Jockey School,” a new sixpart 8.8. C. drama series for youngsters, centering on the ambitions of a group of stable apprentices aspiring to become jockeys. The life is hard, the pay is, poor and the competition intense. If life is difficult for the boy apprentices, however, it is twice as hard for.
stable lass Billy. Yet Billy’s genuine love of horses and her determination to succeed in her chosen career give her strength to carry on. The main plot revolves around the daily life of a racing stable that is going through hard times, and there is a sub-plot involving a complicated race track fraud. The young apprentices are all stable lads or ap-
prentice jockeys in real life, including Dana Humphries, who plays Billy. “Jockey School” was filmed on location on the Lambourne Downs and Worcester Race Course and will screen on One at 4.55 pm.
