Cameo role for Sir Robert
PA Auckland The former Prime Minister, Sir Robert Muldoon, made his debut as a television actor yesterday joining the cast of the series, “Terry and the Gun Runners.” Sir Robert said he found his new role much easier than the constant round of press conferences and interviews demanded of a Prime Minister. “When you make a mistake here they just say ‘cut’ and you do it again,” he said. Sir Robert plays the part of Groves, head of an unnamed Government department resembling a cross between the S.I.S. and the
Internal Affairs Department.
He is shown berating two incompetent agents trying to track the infamous Ray Vegas gun-smuggling gang. Although on screen for less than two minutes, Sir Robert will get star billing for the cameo appearance.
The producer, Logan Brewer, said: “He. is one of New . Zealand’s great stars; few people have that sort of drawing power.” Sir Robert appeared to pick up the acting style quickly. One of the crew said: “He just switched on for the cameras. One minute he was all subdued, but once the cameras started rolling he lit up on cue.’.’
