Walsh for Timaru

By ALEX McMILLAN The country’s leading rider, David Walsh, has an attractive book of mounts at the Timaru Racing Club’s meeting at Washdyke on Friday. Walsh, who to date has ridden 123 winners this season, is now only four winning rides from equalling David Peak’s record for one season of 127.

Walsh has secured well favoured mounts in both legs of the T.A.B. double on Friday; Samasaan in the Donald Grant Handicap and Jonny Alone in the Marac Handicap. His other mounts are Speedy Prophet (First Salisbury Maiden), Sprig (The Washdyke), Coreagle (Otaio Maiden), Sound Note (The Big D Handicap) and Young Hawk (Members Handicap).
