Printing that is fast, of high quality, and competitively priced

Flash Instant Printing opened its fifth New Zealand centre in Christchurch this morning.

It is at 167 Hereford Street, on the corner of the bus park alleyway, nearly opposite the Reserve Bank. What it offers is a printing service that is both fast and high quality. Flash Instant generally prints between 500 and 3000 copies, but it can go up to 20,000 copies and still be economic, or print as few as 20, if that is what the customer wants. Most of Flash Instant’s printing is on A 4. Its work in other places has proved to be mainly letterheads, business cards, brochures and “mailers”. There is also a substantial requirement for company reports, letterhead envelopes, and the binding service offered — quarter binding, comb binding and “saddle stitching” in the making of booklets. Other work includes folding, trimming, padding, col-

Orders lodged after that time are normally ready early next morning.

The printing work encompasses the printing of invoice books, docket books, carbonless forms, business reports, statements, newsletters, price lists, notices, posters, advertising leaflets, stock cards, and memo blocks. There is also a demand for sheets of pre-printed, adhesive labels and for matching business stationery, such as letterhead paper, envelopes and business cards that match in design, art style, printing inks and papers. Colour is available — printing in colour, as well as printing on coloured paper or card. There are nine standard ink colours, of which any number can be used, or the appropriate colours can be mixed to achieve a particular non-standard shade requested. Photocopying is a separate service also offered.

The platemaker used for the printing work is a Mit-

ing or punching, the work usually takes a little longer. The maximum paper size is A 3.

subishi Silvermaster that takes about a minute to make a plate, instead of a day or two. The plate is crisp and exact, whether it is actual size or either enlarged or reduced by as much as 50 per cent. Despite this excellent quality, the plate is valued at only about ?2, so a whole job can be done for what would be the cost of the plate alone, if conventional commercial - printing methods were used.

The presses used are American A. B. Dick machines that are simple but extremely versatile. They can be switched in a matter of minutes from, business cards, to letterheads, for example. Runs of 1000 copies in black ink can be done while the customer waits, that is, in about a quarter of an hour.

Once a plate has been made, this can be held on file, so that further prints can be ordered by telephone.
