Second hole-in-one

A long-time golfing administrator and player at Avondale, Don Gaudin, had a hole-in-one on his home course last Saturday. At the difficult finishing hole, “Terrace,” measuring 177 m, Gaudin hit a No. 5 wood to the front edge of the green and the ball rolled nicely on to the green and into the cup. It was the first ace at Avondale for Gaudin, who has been a member of the club for almost 30 years, but he had played the perfect shot at the

Hutt course in 1954. Gaudin, a former Woodward Cup player for Avondale, went on to complete a one-over par round of 71 and won the stableford competition with 40 points.
