NZPA-Reuter Eastbourne Martina Navratilova warmed up for Wimbledon next week with an auspicious victory in the Eastbourne women’s grass court tennis championships yesterday. She beat Helena Sukova,

of Czechoslovakia, 6-4, 6-3, in the final to retain the title and lift the winner’s cheque of $69,760. The Czechoslovak-born American said: “Every year I have reached the final here I have gone on to win Wimbleton.”
