Gunpoint robber sought

Christchurch detectives still seek the man who tried to rob a central-city hotel at gunpoint on Thursday evening. The would-be robber fled after a receptionist at the Stonehurst Hotel-Motel, in Gloucester Street, did not respond to his demands. The police say that the man, who wore a knitted woollen balaclava, ran along Gressons Lane, which is near the hotel. Soon after, a vehicle was travelling east on Grenons Lane.
