Todd likely captain

A New Zealand squad of six, which will probably be led by the Olympic champion, Mark Todd, will contest the world horse trial championships in Australia next year. Supported by the Newman’s Group, which is putting up $65,000, New Zealand is regarded as having a good chance of winning the championships to be held in Gawler, South Australia.

“New Zealand has never had a better chance to win the world championship but our riders need plenty of practice and plenty of training,” said Mr H. C. Mcßae, of the New Zealand Horse Society trials national executive. The championships include three disciplines, dressage, cross-country and show jumping, and are expected to draw teams from . throughout the world.
