Mrs Underhill killed
The wife of the retired Dean of Christchurch, the Very Rev. Michael Underhill, was killed in a car accident near Palmerston on Thursday. She was Valerie May Underhill, aged 65. Mrs Underhill was killed instantly when the car in which she was a passenger struck a power pole at Shag Point, said the Dunedin police yesterday. The couple were travelling to Alexandra, where Dean Underhill was to have relieved the vicar there. Dean Underhill, who was driving, was treated at
Palmerston Medical Centre for cuts and bruises. He was Dean of Christchurch from 1966 to 1981.
