PA Wellington The Opposition has attacked Air New Zealand for raising its fares at a time when its profits are increasing. The Opposition spokesman on civil aviation, Mr Winston Peters, said the airline had boosted domestic fares 21 per cent in seven months. Mr Peters, the member of Parliament for Tauranga, said the airline would soon announce profits for 1984 in excess of $l3O million, yet this week had increased domestic fares 6 per cent. “The New Zealand air traveller is getting a poor deal,” he said. The latest increase was the third since the 7 per cent increase in November. 1984, and with the February increase of 8 per cent now meant that Air New Zealand’s domestic fares had risen more than 21 per cent in seven months.
