Shopping trundler thefts

Sir,—Recently I saw two young people taking a shopping trundler filled with groceries away from a supermarket. I followed them for some distance, but gave up. The supermarket does not employ a mature person whose job it would be to control the movement of trundlers, but employs juniors at low wages who would certainly not put themselves out to apprehend those misappropriating trundlers. It appears that the company will only employ mature people when thefts reach an intolerable level. In the meantime, the customers or the insurance firm can carry the cost of trundler thefts. It will certainly not come out of profits.—Yours, etc., TED HICKS.
