Argentine hunt
Argentina has launched a full-scale hunt to end a wave of criminal activity by members of paramilitary squads created by the former military rulers. Special forces are tracking down an estimated 100 to 150 squad members who co-operated with security services in abducting, torturing, and killing more than 9000 people under military rule from 1976 to 1983. The hunt was triggered by the kidnapping of Enrique Pescarmona, a leading industrialist released last week after being held for 41 days, and by a string of bomb attacks on radio stations and political party offices.— Buenos Aires.
