Sixteen in G.N. Steeples
PA Auckland A field of 16 remains in Monday’s major steeplechase at Ellerslie after acceptances closed yesterday. The four defections from the Nescafe Great Northern Steeplechase entries were the Australian Fast Food, Wapiti,. Crown Star and Kirrajack. Kirrajack suffered an injury to his off hind leg at jumping trials on Tuesday. The cut required six stitches. Barrier draws for the race will be made on Saturday night. The acceptors are:Nescafe Great Northern Steeplechase, $120,000; 6400 m Hunterville, 66.5; Resolution, 64.5; Dulico, 61.5; Bymai, 61; Headford, 59; Hex, Orca, Our Laddie, 58.5; Battle So Big, Imajason, 58; Cactus, Clan Trelay, 57.5; Admiral’s Cup, Battle On, Cozi Kid, Killarney, 57.
