Trader’s maiden call
The Australian National Line's new Tasman container vessel Australian Trader makes her maiden call at Lyttelton today. The 7218-ton vessel was bought by A.N.L. a month ago to replace the Australian Endeavour, which is being broken up after 16 years service. The Australian Trader is considerably smaller than her predecessor, which weighed 25,144 g.r.t. The new vessel is 122.4 metres and has a capacity of 477 20ft containers. She will sail on a regular run between Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers. Sydney, and Melbourne. After handling 120 containers at the Lyttelton container terminal the ship is due to sail for Port Chalmers at 6 o.m. todav. ARRIVALS Coastal Trader (10.30 a.m.), 6736, Dunedin (5.C.N.2.).
