Farming trends changing
Commerce degree programmes at Lincoln College will probably be revised from next year to cater for changing trends in the agri-culture-business sector.
The revised programmes would have flexibility for a range of student careers, said the professor of finance and accounting at Professor Roger
Juchau, yesterday. By the end of the decade, 60 per cent of employment and 55 per cent of net output in the agriculturebusiness sector would be beyond the farm gate, he said.
This would be in food and fibre processing, distributing and retailing industries. “These trends require
new curriculum initiatives in the subjects of finance, marketing, management, and economics,” he said. “Programmes have been designed to meet the entry requirements of various professional bodies.” Professor Juchau said he hoped the revised programmes would start next year.
