Japanese Derby

NZPA-Reuter Tokyo Sirius Symboli, a colt sired by French-bred Mogami, won the Japanese Derby by three lengths on Sunday. The colt, ridden by Kazuhiro Kato, went to the front in the closing stages to win from Suda Hawk. Scrum Dyna finished third in the 2400 metres classic. Sirius Symboli is one of two Japanese horses entered for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes group one race at Ascot on July 27.
