Orienteering results

A field of about 200 started in an orienteering event held in the Bottle Lake Forest on Sunday by the Peninsula and Plains Orienteers.

Fine weather and the proximity of the course to Christchurch helped attract the large entry. Many competitors were experiencing the sport for the first time.

The main event was won by Mats Nilsson, a Swedish orienteer who is a guest of the club. He finished with 250 points. Graham Bonniface also scored 250 points, the maximum, but
