Mercenaries ‘recruited’

NZPA-AFP London About 40 former British soldiers have been recruited to join the anti-Sandinist guerrillas in Nicaragua, the “Observer” newspaper reported yesterday. It said they would join United States mercenaries in Central America next month.

The recruitment was sponsored by some United States millionaires and Right-wing generals, it asserted. Two guerrilla leaders had come secretly to London to get recruits, said the “Observer.” “Those who have signed up are untrained and inexperienced,” it said.
