July 19. 1985 are invited from Registered Medical Practitioners qualifying as Registrars under the Health Service Determination applicable to Medical Officers, for appointment as registrars and clinical tutors at the Board’s principal institutions, Christchurch. Liddell), Canterbury Hospital Board. Appointments are made in the following disciplines:— ANAESTHESIA. INTENSIVE CARE THERAPY — One position. MEDICINE and its SUB SPECIALTIES - Including Geriatric, Intensive Care (one rotating post) and Medical Oncology. OBSTETRICS and GYNAECOLOGY. PAEDIATRICS. PATHOLOGY and its SUB SPECIALTIES. PSYCHOLOGICAL MEDICINE. RADIOLOGY. RADIOTHERAPY and ONCOLOGY. SURGERY and Its SUB SPECIALTIES - (except Cardiac Surgery). SALARY Scales are in accordance with the Health Service Determination applicable to Medical Officers, on the scale for registrars. In addition to service work for the Canterbury Hospital Board the majority of Registrar posts have teaching duties to medical students of the Christchurch Clinical School of Medicine of the University of Otago (200 students In the three clinical years). Registrar posts to the Academic Units associated with the Christchurch Clinical School of Medicine are included In the advertisement. On runs to which Medical Students are attached Registrars will be expected to be involved in teaching Medical Students and for this purpose they are given the status of “Clinical Tutors.” The Canterbury Hospital Board Institutions are approved by the Royal Colleges for training. Applicants may apply for general or specialist positions and may ask to be considered for more than one post. In all cases applicants must be prepared to remain for a full year. The new year will commence at the beginning of December 1985 and be completed November 1986. Special arrangements will be made with applicants who have commitments that would delay commencing in December. The Canterbury and South Canterbury Hospital Boards have agreed in an exchange programme for the benefit of both Boards and trainees. Medical and Surgical Registrars appointed to the Canterbury Hospital Board must agree to spend up to six months at Tlmaru. This scheme Is approved by the Royal Colleges of Australasia. MEDICAL REGISTRARS: It is planned that Part II trainees will normally be involved in such a scheme, but all appointees, Part I and Part II may be required to participate In this scheme. It is realised that the Part I F.R.A.C.P. examination will be held in July/August. Candidates sitting this examination should submit applications and indicate their subspeclalty interest and proceeding to Part II F.R.A.C.P. ASHBURTON HOSPITAL, ASHBURTON PART-TIME PHYSICIAN APPLICATIONS are invited from Registered Medical Practitioners with specialist qualifications in medicine or registered practitioners with suitable experience for the position of Part-time Physician or Medical Officer at Ashburton Hospital. Salary Is as a Specialist Automatic Scale or as a Medical Officer Special Scale. Further details are available from the Medical Superintendent, Ashburton Hospital, Ashburton.
