The director-general of Unesco, Amadou Mahtar Mbow, said he would have to sack or let go 300 staff members as an economy measure after United States withdrawal from the organisation. He said SUS2O million in a working capital fund was not sufficient to pay the departing employees the indemnities to which they are entitled. —Paris
