Inspection charging soon
Charges to partially cover the cost of inspecting agricultural produce will be phased in from June 1. The dairy, meat and horticultural industries have to meet a third of the cost of inspections this year under measures announced in the 1984 Budget.
Charging will begin for each industry at the beginning of their export seasons, the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr Moyle, has said.
The dairy industry will be the first to deal with the new measure when its season begins on June 1. During the next month M.A.F. staff will work on the new arrangementsf with various industries.
