Auckland glass artist wins prize
PA Wellington Auckland glass artist, Mr John Abramczyk, has won the 1985 Philips Studio Glass Award which carries a cash prize of $l5OO. The award recognises excellence in the glass arts, including both hot glass (moulded and blown) and flat glass (similar to leadlight). Mr Abramczyk was presented with his award in a ceremony at the Auckland Museum. Mr Abramczyk’s work, entitled Variations, is a stained-glass panel with circular and triangular geometrical variation based on flashed white glass,
partly etched and partly silver-stained. A total of 43 entries from 27 artists were selected for final judging.
