Appeal on Coast
Greymouth reporter West Coast Federated Farmers have launched an appeal for hay to be given to South Canterbury and North Otago. The West Coast provincial president, Mr Bruce Hamilton, said the year had been one of the best that the Coast had had for farming and big amounts of hay were made, and the feed situation was excellent. “Given that the farmers in the drought area are faced with their worst recorded drought, I would ask local farmers to give what hay they can to help in what is a disastrous situation involving a lot of hardship,” Mr Hamilton said.
