Soldiers' suicides
At least 21 Israeli soldiers have committed suicide in Lebanon since the invasion in 1982 and the stress of military duty in the volatile south was partly responsible, the Defence Minister, Mr Yitzhak Rabin, says. Mr Rabin disclosed in Parliament that 12 soldiers had killed themselves in Lebanon in 1982 and 1983. Nine had committed suicide in Lebanon last year. — Tel Aviv.
