"8' CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL DIFFERENTIAL RATING PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a meeting of the Christchurch City Council held on Monday, the 18th day of March 1985, the following resolution was passed and will be submitted for confirmation as a Special Order at a meeting of the Council to be held on Monday, the 20th day of May 1985, at 7.30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 163 Tuam Street: “That the Christchurch City Council, pursuant to provisions of the Local Government Act 1974 and its amendments and all other Acts, powers and authorities enabling it in that behalf does hereby resolve by Special Order as follows: 1. That pursuant to Section 148 of the Local Government Act 1974 the Christchurch City Council hereby alters the system of differential rating adopted by the Council pursuant to a Special Order made on the 16th day of May 1977 as follows: (a) That the rates which are subject to the altered system of differential rating shall be the General, Special, Recreation, Canterbury United Council, Canterbury Museum Trust Board and the Rlccarton Bush Trust Board rates (hereafter referred to as “the said rates”) for properties in the City of Christchurch. (b) That the groups of property for the altered system of differential rating within the City be: GROUP ‘A’ Commercial and Industrial — includes all properties in the City of Christchurch used for a commercial or industrial purpose, Including office, administrative and associated functions. GROUP ‘B’ Residential and Other Properties — consists of: (i) Multi-Unit Residential Properties — properties which consist of: (a) two or more household units; or (b) one or more household units and one or more non-residential uses. but excludes home ownership flats. (ii) Residential Single Unit and Other Properties - includes all properties in the City of Christchurch not included in Group ‘A’, Group ‘B’ (i) or Group ‘C’ and includes home ownership flats. GROUP *C’ Exempt properties — means all properties which are exempt for rating purposes. (c) That the following differentials shall apply to the said Groups: GROUP ‘A’ COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL PROPERTIES. This Group to produce 35 per cent of the said rates. GROUP ‘B’ RESIDENTIAL AND OTHER PROPERTIES. This Group to produce 65 per cent of the said rates. (I) MULTI-UNIT RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES. The basic rate in the dollar applicable to Group ‘B’ for the said rates plus: (a) on the second unit or use on the same assessment a differential of 5 per cent of the said basic rate; (b) on the third unit or use on the same assessment a differential of 10 per cent of the said basic rate; (c) on the fourth unit or use on the same assessment a differential of 15 per cent of the said basic rate; (d) on the fifth unit or use on the same assessment a differential of 20 per cent of the said basic rate; (e) on the six*a unit or use on the same assessment a differential of 25 per cent of the said basic rate; (f) on the seventh unit or use on the same assessment a differential of 30 per cent of the said basic rate; (g) on the eighth unit or use on the same assessment a differential of 35 per cent of the said basic rate; (h) on the ninth unit or use on the same assessment a differential of 40 per cent of the said basic rate; (i) on the tenth and subsequent units or uses on the same assessment a differential of 45 per cent of the said basic rate. (ii) RESIDENTIAL SINGLE UNIT AND OTHER PROPERTIES. The basic rate in the dollar applicable to Group ‘B’ for the said rates. GROUP ‘C’ EXEMPT PROPERTIES. No differential to apply. 2. That this altered system of differential rating shall come into force on and from April 1,1985. A STATEMENT SHOWING: 1. Matters taken into account in altering the system of differential rating. 2. The altered types or groups of property for differential rating within the City of Christchurch. 3. Objects of the altered system of differential rating. 4. General effect on the Ratepayers. is open for public inspection without fee during office hours, 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., Monday to Friday inclusive, at the Rates Section of the Treasury Department, 163 Tuam Street, Christchurch 1. Any person upon inquiry either in person at the public office of the Council, or in writing addressed to the undersigned, shall be advised of the type or group of property to which a particular property will be allocated. Any ratepayer may, at any time after the confirmation of the Special Order, object to the Council in accordance with Section 57 of the Rating Act 1967 against the allocation of a property to a particular type or group of property.
