Author dies
Denise Robins, the author of more than 200 novels, which earned her the title “Queen of Romance,” has died in her sleep at her home in Haywards Heath, Sussex, after a long illness. Her first published story appeared in “The Lady” magazine when she was 12 and her first novel was published in 1924. She worked until she was aged into her eighties, and her final novel was pubished in 1983. Her books were translated in to 15 languages, and returns from libraries showed her to be one of Britain’s most widely read authors. Last year alone 1,500,000 of her books were borrowed from British libraries.—London. r
