April drier, warmer

PA Wellington On a New Zealand-wide basis, April was generally much drier and slightly warmer than average. Nelson, East Cape, eastern Bay of Plenty, and parts of Northland were the only areas to have higher than average rainfall. Tongariro, Wairarapa, Wellington and West Coast, South Island, had about half of their average rainfall, while eastern districts of the South Island from the Kaikoura coast to coastal Otago and Central Otago had no significant rainfall. Remaining areas of both islands had average or slightly below average rainfall.
