Netball team named
PA Auckland A New Zealand youth netball team is to spend three weeks promoting the game in the Cook Islands, Western Samoa and Fiji. The 12-member squad, coached by the former New Zealand representative Yvonne Willering, leaves Auckland on Saturday. It will play seven official games and several exhibition matches. The New Zealand team has been divided into three areas —shooting, mid-court and defence.
Covering shooting are Stephanie Stokes (Canterbury), Rita Fatialofa (Wellington), who will captain the side, Te Aroha Clarke (Auckland) and Diana Sullivan (Canterbury). In mid-court will be Sandra Edge (Waikato), the vice-cap-tain, Karen Henrikson (Wellington), Joan Solia (Auckland) and Julie Townsend (Auckland). The defence will be Jane Eddington (Wellington), Annette Heffernan (Canterbury Country), Linda de Ruyter (Southland) and Denise Felix (North Shore).
