Another win for Treaura

Special correspondent Dunedin Treaura posted her fourth win from her last six starts when she was successful in the Mosgiel Borough Centennial Cup at the Otago Racing Club’s meeting at Wingatui yesterday. A four-year-old mare by Trelay from Attentive, she is trained on the course by Brian Anderton and Graeme Ofen. She is raced by Anderton, his wife, Lorraine, sis-ter-in-law, Julie Jones, and her husband, Peter. Treaura improved from mid-field to lead at the 350 m and won by a length from the strong-finishing Palace Guard and Paddle, which came home well.

The favourite, Mount Joy, failed to run on. Sharemarket also had his fourth win from his last six starts when he easily won the Lindsay and Helen Young Handicap. Sharemarket is up for sale as his owners have a younger brother to him which they wish to race. He led from barrier rise yesterday and won by three lengths. His trainer, John Parsons, was also successful yesterday with the maiden, Claudio, a three-year-old Beaufort Sea—Lynne’s Pride gelding, which he prepares for the trotting identity, Freeman Holmes and his wife.
