Polytech voice wanted
Nurses should have representation on polytechnic councils, says the Nurses’ Association. The association has voted, at its annual conference in Wellington this week, to write to the Minister of Education, Mr Marshall, asking him to ensure that nurses have representation
on the councils. The executive director of the association. Miss Patricia Carroll, said that nurses’ membership on councils was a particular problem in Christchurch and Otago. The councils should be reconstituted to represent adequately all secf ; ons of
the college, she said. Mr Marshall commented recently that 25 per cent of students at polytechnics in New Zealand were nursing students. The association’s president, Mrs Jocelyn Keith, said that the councils were autonomous bodies.
