Empire Rubber changes name
Empire Rubber Mills, of Christchurch, a division of Skellerup Industries, Ltd, changed its name to Skellerup Polymer Products, Ltd, on April 1. The managing director of Skellerup Polymer, Mr Stewart Betty, said that as the industry has grown the relationship between rubber and plastic had become much closer. “It is now difficult to define where plastics end and where rubber starts, that is why we have changed the name from rub-, ber to polymer which
covers rubber and plastic.” The introduction of the word Skellerup into the title also strengthened the corporate identity of the company, he said. Skellerup Polymer makes a wide range of milkerware items, structural bearings and pads, extrusions, industrial hose, press mouldings, custom-mixed rubber compounds, marine rendering, rubber components for the whiteware industry, no-flat cycle tubes, retread materials, and sponge mouldings.
