Music for patients
NZPA-AP Peking A music therapy machine that pipes separate tunes to different patients is in use at a sanatorium near Changsha, the official Xinhua news agency reported. The sound system sends varying melodies, tempos, tone colours, and volume to 40 patients at a time, according to doctors’ musical prescriptions, the report said. Patients at Mawangdui sanatorium listen through earphones. The agency quoted doctors at the Hunan province facility as saying the therapy was good for those recovering from mental disorders, insomnia, high blood pressure, heart disease, and gastric ulcers.
