Italian envoy to visit
PA Wellington Mr Bruno Corti, the Under-Secretary to the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, will arrive in New Zealand on March 18 for a short visit during which he will brief the Government on European Community affairs. “As Italy now holds the presidency of the European Commission it is an opportune moment for us to receive a briefing on issues of concern to Community members and, for our part, to familiarise him with New Zealand’s interests in the Community context and also in the wider international scene,” said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr O’Flynn. “New Zealand and Italy have many shared interests, for instance bilateral trade and the Antarctic, and have common aims in the 0.E.C.D., the United Nations, and other international organisations.” Mr O’Flynn said Mr Corti would talk to several Government Ministers and officials during his visit.
