Masport expands
PA Auckland Masport, Ltd, the diversified engineering and manufacturing group, is expanding its Mt Wellington, Auckland, premises by 2300 square metres to cope with growth in exports. The managing director, Mr D. W. Benefield, said the company was expanding and modernising its operations to meet the changing needs of world markets, especially the more competitive environment created by the C.E.R. agreement with Australia. “We cannot afford to take
markets for granted. Masport is among New Zealand’s oldest and most experienced manufacturing exporters and it must consequently be improving and enlarging its product range if it is to stay on top,” he said.
“We see the Australian market as an exciting challenge and our new National lawnmower will increase market share considerably.
“Overseas sales now account for more than 60 per cent of group turnover and we are always on the lookout for new opportunities.”
