Settlement terms
Sir,—Your report on the strike settlement at the Marsden refinery quotes the company’s personnel manager as saying “the strike has achieved no more than was available before strike action was taken,” and the union organiser as claiming “the company was now prepared to talk about an allowance claim it had previously refused to acknowledge.” Is there some confusion here, or am I just too dull to understand? — Yours etc., G. ASHTON. . February 22, 1985.
