Club seeks $20,000
The Wharenui Swimming Pool’s air-conditioning project will be officially launched this evening by the Mayor of Riccarton, Mr Richard Harrington. The Wharenui Swimming Club is attempting to raise $20,000, which is its share of the cost of an airconditioning unit. Other moneys have been granted by the Riccarton Borough Council, and the club is seeking a Government subsidy for the unit. Fund-raising activities that are planned include an inter-firm relay on Friday evening, preceded by a swimathon.
