Newmans Air, which will begin commercial flights on Wednesday, would aim to out-perform its competitors by providing the best inflight service possible, said the managing director of the Newmans Group, Mr Garth Butler, yesterday. Although Newmans Air was a new company, its name was associated with a service industry going back more than 100 years, he said at a graduation ceremony at Mona Vale for the airline’s 22 all-female cabin
attendants. “You have a tremendous tradition of service to uphold,” Mr Butler told the young women. “I hope you get great satisfaction from your work.” The attendants were trained in two courses, the first of which began last November. Since then they have received instruction on flight safety procedures, first aid, aviation medicine, decompression, and water drill. They have also been taught the basics of the Japanese language, culture, and etiquette.
