Ministers discuss C.E.R.

PA Wellington The Australian Minister of Trade, Mr John Dawkins, met New Zealand Ministers and officials yesterday to finalise the agenda for a mid-year meeting to examine the working of the Closer Economic Relations agreement.

A five-year review is scheduled for 1988, but both the Australian and New Zealand Governments want the mid-term conference for early consideration of matters of concern in the trade agreement. Mr Dawkins met the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Caygill, and the Minister

of Overseas Trade, Mr Moore, for almost three hour’s and then spoke to the Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas. Afiter the meeting, Mr Dawkins told reporters a wide range of issues had been discussed, including steel, but no significant problems had come up.
