Carpet award stop-work

Christchurch carpet factory workers will hold a stop-work meeting on February 13 to hear a report from the national secretary of the Woollen Workers’ Union, Mr Paddy O’Flanagan, on the breakdown of their award talks.

The carpet award was set down for conciliation talks on December 7 last year in the first week of the compressed wage round, but when talks on the related woollen workers’ award broke down both the carpet award and the hosiery and knitwear workers’ awards were adjourned sine die.
