Unsuccessful appeal

PA Wellington Placings in the AshhurstPohangina Cup, run last month, will remain unchanged after an appeal heard in Palmerston North on Tuesday. The appeal was lodged by the owner of the fourthplaced Aptitude, Mr H. B. Norcross, against a decision of the judicial committee on the day which failed to promote Aptitude over Fantastic, which finished third. A sub-committee of the Wanganui District Commit-

tee, chaired by Mr H. L. Perry, heard the appeal and was unanimous in deciding it should be dismissed. Evidence was heard from the assistant stipendiary steward of the Ashhurst club and a film of the race was viewed. The sub-com-mittee acknowledged that interference to Aptitude had occurred but said that it had been caused by movement of other horses as well as Fantastic.

The appeal deposit was refunded and no order was made in respect of costs.
