Pacifica conference in Chch
Pacific Island women living in New Zealand will gather in Christchurch at the week-end for the national conference of Pacifica.
About 200 women are expected at the conference, which will be opened by the Minister of Pacific Island Affairs, Mr Prebble, on Friday evening. The conference theme will be women and youth. One of the workshops on Friday will centre on International Youth Year, while others will discuss women’s health issues, eating habits, stress and pressure, and weaving. On Saturday the organisation’s president and two vice-presidents will be elected. The only nomination for the post of South Island vice-president is Mrs Honey Betham, of Christchurch.
