BL needs funds
Virtually State-owned, British Leyland is believed to have approached the British Government yet again for funds, whieh would enable the company to set about producing its next generation of cars. BL is said to need hundreds of millions of pounds to accomplish the task. What is more, the’pritish Motor Industry Research
Unit at the University of East Anglia has come up with an independent report, the crux of which is a contention that if BL does not get Government assistance again its future looks grim. The Research Unit maintains that BL is unlikely to do well enough to build up internally generated funds to finance its entire investment needs.
