Fantasies become realities
“Thief of Hearts,” which will start tomorrow at the Savoy, is the story of a woman (Barbara Williams) whose fantasies become realities, whose words are made flesh, and who discovers that there is a price to pay for living your dreams. . It is also the story of her * husband (John Getz), whose seemingly perfect marriage is put to the test by forces he barely understands; and the story of a high-class, streetwise theif (Steven Bauer), who steals a woman’s diaries. ■“The thief is the ultimate " professional,” says Bauer. « “He’s a guy who’s cultivated his mind and his sense of , style because that’s what’s; important to his work. “But he’s always been on the outside until he sees a chance to connect with - someone, to have something ' real and true in his life. That’s when his whole world ' starts to change.”
“Thief of Hearts” is the ” first directorial effort of Douglas Day Stewart, who “ was recently honoured with both a Writers’ Guild and Academy Award nomination for his original screenplay for “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
