Train toll At least 30 people are now known to have been killed in a fire that destroyed a Bangladesh train on Sunday and five railmen have been suspended for alleged lapses connected with the tragedy. Moshtaque Ahmed Chowdhury, joint secretary at the Railway Ministry, said local newspaper reports putting the death toll in the fire at possibly more than 300 were untrue. The total number of passengers in the three burnt coaches was less than 300.—Dhaka. Youths shot A youth was shot dead and four other teen-agers wounded when troops opened fire on a stolen car in west Beirut yesterday. Three
soldiers were knocked down and hurt as the Ford Granada tried to reverse away from a road-block in the city’s Stockman’s Lane.— Belfast. Summit off A Warsaw Pact summit meeting scheduled for this week has been postponed indefinitely, according to an official announcement in a Soviet newspaper. An editorial spokesman for the daily, “Sovietskaya Rossiya” read the text of the brief announcement, which said the decision was taken by mutual agreement of the pact members. The political consultative committee is the highest and broadest forum of the seven-member Sovietled - alliance, including the Communist Party leaders and Prime Ministers. Foreign and Defence Ministers were also expected to attend the meeting, which would have been the first since that in Prague in June, 1983.—Moscow. £
