Guides to attend camps

Girl Guides from all round the Pacific will descend on three New Zealand venues on Thursday for nine-day camps. More than 3000 New Zealand guides will be joined by those from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Cook Islands, Tonga, Malaysia, Tuvalu, Hawaii, Singapore and Western Samoa for the Waitangi camp, at Onerwhera Bay, Bay of Islands; the Egmont camp, at the A. and P. Showgrounds, Hawera; and the Tasman camp at Tahuna Beach Holiday Park, Nelson. Such camps are held three times a year by the Girl Guides Association in New Zealand and the girls will take part in orienteering, boating, tramping, sightseeing, camp craft, swimming, visits to historical sights and the exchange of cultural and guiding experiences.
