Help for fathers

Sir,—l must vent my feelings on the remarks of M. A. Hogan (January 10). At one time I was a separated father and had to put up with the same feminist attitudes as M. A. Hogan’s, not only on the custody but also on access. I think men in general should have the same rights as women in the wellbeing of their children. I feel M. A. Hogan must be motivated by a personal point of view, not on the remarks first made by P. J. Oakenshield. Why should men be deprived " of giving the love they feel for their children? If M. A. Hogan understood the pain and anguish some fathers who do not have their children go through, maybe their attitude would be different. — Yours, etc, R. F. MacLEOD. January 11, 1985.

, Sir,—ln further reply to S. M. Walker, a bad parent in my opinion would be one who is constantly under the influence of alcoholic drink and/or drugs and neglects the needs of children. For every bad parent there are thousands of conscientious couples doing their best to bring their families up to be honest, reliable and truthful citizens,

so let us not denigrate motherhood. Another woman may foster a child but a man can never take the place of a mother.—Yours, etc., M. A. HOGAN. January 12, 1985. [This correspondence is now closed.—Editor]
