Tootrot Flats’
NZPA Sydney The New Zealand musical, “Footrot Flats,” has taken Western Australia by storm and is expected to pack them in when it hits Sydney early this year. Roger Hall’s adaptation of Murray Ball’s famous comic strip has been playing to full houses in Perth, and Sydney promoter, Ashley Gordon, expects a similar showing when it opens in the Footbridge Theatre in March. In between the musical will be staged in Adelaide during the festival there, and after its Sydney season
it will go on to Melbourne. “It’s been a great success in Perth and it has grossed an enormous amount, in excess of half a million dollars,” he said yesterday. “It’s certainly proven itself there and has received rave reviews.” The play, which has an Australian cast, played in Perth for seven weeks, then went on a 10,000 km tour around Western Australia for a total of 108 performances which were seen by more than 50,000 people. It is expected to be on the road in Australia for at least the next two years.
