The baby, who has not been named yet, was born at Wendover Maternity Hospital at 2.32 a.m. yesterday. He weighed 2900gm (about 61b 5oz). Mrs Begg and her husband, Murray, have two other children, Ceiros, aged seven, and Hamish, aged two. Mrs Adrienne Russell, also of Christchurch, gave birth to the second New Year baby at Christchurch Women’s Hospital at 8.32 a.m. The 3950gm boy has not yet been named.
