Help for fathers
Sir,—ln reply to A. S. and S. M. Walker (December 28), how can it be considered bias to want a high standard of care for children? In schools there have always been courses of homecraft and child care for girls, and comprehensive career courses for boys. In the animal kingdom the birth mother brings up her family with or without help from the male parent. There is no shuttling the offspring between the parents, depriving the mother of her babies, and no maladjusted offspring. Humans working with animals give the birth mother and family every care and attention, often excluding the male. In the human world children are taken from their birth mothers and given to male pseudo mothers — an absurd and iniquitous trend which should not be tolerated. Paternity is not a criterion for a good parent. — Yours, etc., M. A. HOGAN. December 30, 1984.
